As a 2014 remake for the Nintendo 3DS, this Role-Playing Adventure preserves the core creature collection and turn-based strategy of the original set in the Hoenn region. You battle environmental factions, Team Magma (land) and Team Aqua (sea), vying for control of Legendary Pokémon Groudon or Kyogre. Key modernizations include updated 3D visuals and streamlined mechanics. Distinctive features involve the Primal Reversion mechanic, granting Groudon and Kyogre ancient power, and utilizing the Eon Flute for expansive aerial exploration across the map.
The game adheres to the established formula of the genre, requiring players to capture, train, and battle various creatures to progress through Gym challenges and ultimately challenge the Pokémon League. The atmosphere is defined by the lush, diverse environments of the Hoenn region, from dense forests to volcanic peaks and deep seas. As a remake, it preserves the fundamental narrative structure of the parent game while introducing significant modernizations.
The most notable changes focus on visual fidelity and quality-of-life enhancements. The 3D presentation offers updated character models and environments, providing a fresh visual interpretation of the familiar region. Gameplay mechanics have been streamlined using systems introduced in later generations, such as the updated battle mechanics and the integration of features like the Pokémon-Amie system, which allows for deeper interaction with collected creatures.
The transition to the Nintendo 3DS platform brought substantial technical upgrades. The visual presentation is significantly enhanced over the original hardware, utilizing 3D environments for exploration and battle sequences. Furthermore, the core battle system benefits from modernizations that improve strategic depth and pacing compared to the original Game Boy Advance release.
A significant addition to this version is the implementation of Primal Reversion. This mechanic allows the Legendary Pokémon central to the plot, Groudon and Kyogre, to revert to an ancient, more powerful state during battle, fundamentally altering their abilities and the battlefield conditions.
The game features enhanced exploration mechanics. Players utilize a device known as the Eon Flute, which allows for aerial traversal across the Hoenn region using a specific Legendary Pokémon, offering a new perspective on map navigation and access to previously unreachable areas. This aerial exploration often leads to encounters with various Legendary Pokémon from previous generations.
This release is a standalone experience. It does not feature any downloadable content (DLC) or post-launch expansions, meaning all core content, including the main story, post-game activities, and the integration of features from other contemporary titles, is included upon release. The focus remains squarely on the adventure within the Hoenn region and the resolution of the conflict between the two antagonistic teams.
The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 7 years and over only. It contains: Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters.

Rising Ruby and Sinking Sapphire are modifications of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire that allow you to play through the main game with all 721 Pokémon obtainable and go through the challenge of a significantly stronger Pokémon League. A huge emphasis has been placed on Pokémon availability, with most areas in the game offering 10 or 11 species that haven't been seen before that point. The mostly equal chance of encountering any of the Pokémon in an area also mean you're unlikely to get the same thing twice on the first encounter, making the game lend itself well to Nuzlocke runs (if you can handle the extra challenge from the trainer battles!).

Pokémon Rutile Ruby and Star Sapphire are ROM hacks for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Their main purpose is to provide a more challenging game experience while not artificially limiting the player. The premier feature of Rutile Ruby and Star Sapphire is the ground-up redesign of Pokémon Trainers in the world to increase the game’s challenge. Every trainer in the game has been edited, and the level curve expects use of the Experience Share, which means that you level up very quickly. You should be hitting Level 100 by the time you get to the Elite Four. The secondary focus of RR/SS is to function as a sort of “20XX Hack Pack” where everything obtainable is 100% legal for real online battles, and some features are designed to make preparing competitive teams much less of a hassle.
