This title is a modification (Mod) based on the Game Boy Advance RPG, *Pokémon Ruby Version*, offering a fresh adventure in the Lunoh Region. You start with an Eevee and embark on a quest to become a Pokémon Master, battling trainers and capturing new creatures in established turn-based combat. The core loop involves leveling up Pokémon to evolve them while simultaneously working to stop the antagonistic Team Genesis from unleashing Giratina for world domination. As a mod, its appeal is the new story layered onto familiar, beloved mechanics.
Players assume the role of a 13-year-old protagonist whose father manages the large corporation known as EDGE Co. The adventure initiates when the father requests the player meet him, tasking them with fulfilling his own unachieved childhood ambition: becoming a Pokémon Master. The journey commences with the player receiving their first partner Pokémon, an Eevee. This quest quickly escalates beyond standard training as the player encounters many unique individuals and must confront the antagonistic organization known as Team Genesis.
The central conflict revolves around Team Genesis's plot to harness the immense power of the legendary Pokémon Giratina by releasing it from the Distortion World, with the ultimate goal of achieving world domination. The player, as the protagonist, is positioned as the necessary force to thwart this scheme.
The gameplay adheres closely to the established formula of its base game. Players begin with a single Pokémon and expand their roster by encountering and capturing wild Pokémon using Poké Balls. When a battle is initiated, either against a wild Pokémon or a challenging trainer, the screen switches to a dedicated turn-based battle interface.
During combat, strategic choices include selecting a move, using an item, switching the active Pokémon, or attempting to flee (though fleeing is not an option in battles against trainers). All Pokémon possess Hit Points (HP); when a Pokémon's HP reaches zero, it faints and cannot participate until revived. Defeating an opposing Pokémon results in the earning of experience points. Accumulating enough experience leads to leveling up, which frequently triggers evolution into a new species of Pokémon.
As a modification, this game offers a new narrative layer built upon the established, well-tested gameplay loop of its source material. For players familiar with the original experience, the value proposition centers on exploring a new region, encountering a new cast of characters, and facing a unique threat in Team Genesis, all while retaining the familiar mechanics of collecting, training, and battling Pokémon on the Game Boy Advance.
Currently, this specific modification does not feature any officially released downloadable content (DLCs) or standalone expansions beyond the content integrated into the initial 2017 release by the developer, Sloo.
