The primary focus of this hotfix is the restoration of mod functionality, which was unfortunately broken by previous security changes. While modding is back on the menu, there is a catch: you need to move your files. To comply with new security measures, all unofficial .pak files must now be placed in a specific subfolder: SCUM\\Content\\Paks\\. If your mods aren't loading, check your directory structure first.
Beyond the technical side of modding, Gamepires has addressed a major gameplay frustration: puppet spawning. The previous patch caused some inconsistent behavior with how these horrors populated the island, making the survival show feel a bit empty in some sectors and unfairly crowded in others. This hotfix stabilizes those spawns, ensuring the TEC1 broadcast remains as lethal as intended.
While this update smooths out the current experience, the developers also acknowledged a lingering performance issue. Players have reported significant frame drops or stuttering when opening weapon chests that are heavily loaded with loot. While not fixed in this specific deployment, a dedicated hotfix for this performance degradation is already in development. In the meantime, the team teased that news regarding the next major content milestone for Scum will be shared in the near future.
