Nine Dots Studio isn't making players wait until summer to get their hands on the sequel, however. A Closed Beta is scheduled to run from May 26th at 4PM EST through June 8th, giving a select group of adventurers the chance to test the new systems and provide feedback before the final gold master.
The highlight of this beta phase is the introduction of La Rescapée, a previously unseen region of Aurai. For those who survived the original game, the prospect of a new biome means new threats, unique environmental hazards, and the necessity of learning a new layout without the safety of a GPS or hand-holding quest markers. Preparation remains the core pillar here; if you don't pack enough water or the right gear for the climate of La Rescapée, the environment will kill you long before the monsters do.
Registration for the Closed Beta is currently open, with the first wave of invites expected to roll out on May 26th. To get a better look at what's coming, CEO Guillaume is hosting a live preview stream on Twitch on May 25th at 2PM EST. This will likely be the best opportunity to see how the combat refinements and survival mechanics have evolved since the previous playtests.
Beta Schedule and Details:
- Beta Starts: May 26th, 4PM EST
- Beta Ends: June 8th, 1PM EST
- Full Release: July 7th
- Key Feature: Exploration of the La Rescapée region
As with the first game, Outward 2 is leaning heavily into consequence-driven gameplay. This beta isn't just a demo; it's a stress test for the survival loop that defines the series. Whether you're a returning spellblade or a newcomer, the margin for error remains razor-thin.
