The most significant change involves how the game handles your data. The development team at Screen Juice has revised the save game logic to prevent corruption during unexpected shutdowns. Moving forward, Morbid Metal will only trigger a save at specific points: the end of a run, player death, teleportation, or when you manually quit the game. This should eliminate the dreaded black screen issues that occurred when loading into the simulation.
Combat and movement have also seen necessary refinements. The FlightResponse routine—critical for high-speed maneuvering—has been overhauled to stop it from breaking on slopes or stacking incorrectly. This makes the hack-and-slash flow much more reliable when you're weaving through machine hordes. Additionally, the Boss Prophet has received a fix for its death and outro cutscenes, which previously could hang and stall your run right at the finish line.
On the balance side, the meta for defensive builds is shifting. The Absorbing Barrier healing is now capped. Previously, players could exploit healing every single time a barrier was destroyed during a dodge; now, there is a hard limit to prevent invincibility loops. Enemies with barriers have also been adjusted to ensure they actually take damage when they're supposed to, rather than ignoring your strikes entirely.
- Fixed FlightResponse movement breaking on uneven terrain.
- Resolved Boss Prophet death scene soft-locks.
- Capped Absorbing Barrier healing to prevent OP sustain builds.
- Updated save triggers to protect file integrity.
