The star of the show is the Sentinel, a new shell designed for players who prefer to control the battlefield. With the Defender System and Snare Mines, this class excels at locking down extraction zones. The "Castle Doctrine" passive reinforces this playstyle, rewarding those who hold their ground against aggressive squads. It’s a direct counter to the high-mobility meta we’ve seen lately, forcing teams to be more methodical when pushing a fortified position.
Beyond the new class, Bungie has completely overhauled the Implant system. This rework changes the math on mid-raid progression, making your cybernetic choices feel more impactful during a run. Coupled with improved faction reputation gains and changes to Sponsored Kits, the item economy feels much more rewarding for those of us grinding for high-tier loot. If you've been struggling to keep your bank account in the black, the increased payout from faction tasks should help stabilize your stash.
For the PC crowd, the addition of DLSS, FSR, and XeSS Frame Generation is a massive win. Marathon is a visual powerhouse, and the extra performance overhead is crucial when firefights get chaotic. We’re also seeing a suite of weapon balances, most notably the introduction of the D54 Battle Pistol, which fills a much-needed gap in the sidearm category for mid-range engagements.
Finally, the inclusion of a comprehensive Streamer Mode is a huge quality-of-life win. With name hiding and matchmaking delays now integrated, high-profile Runners can focus on the loot without worrying about being targeted by opportunistic hunters looking for a quick clip.
