As the first chapter of extraction on Tau Ceti IV concludes, Runners are being rewarded for their grit. Bungie has confirmed that players will receive Sponsored Kits based on their final Season 1 Runner Level. These kits, which become unlockable once Season 2 kicks off, range from the Enhanced CyberAcme Kit at Level 10 to the high-tier Superior CyberAcme Kit for those who reached Level 75. It is a solid way to ensure your efforts in the ghost ship's shadow translate into a gear advantage for the next cycle.
Season 2 is not just about loitering in the past, though. The update introduces the Sentinel Runner shell, a new cybernetic frame designed to shake up the current PvP meta. Alongside the shell comes the "Cradle" progression system, a feature aimed at deepening how we develop our Runners between extractions. The most atmospheric change is undoubtedly the updated Dire Marsh (Night). Dropping into a swamp is dangerous enough; doing it in total darkness with only strange signals and enemy muzzle flashes to guide you changes the tactical landscape of every firefight.
For those who have been hesitant to drop onto the planet, an Open Play Week will run from June 2 to June 9. This allows anyone on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S to jump in for free. Crucially, any loot secured or artifacts found during this week will carry over if you decide to purchase the full game, so there is zero risk in testing your survival instincts against the colony's lingering threats.
