Before we descend into the darkness of the new Night Marsh zone, Update 1.0.9 is scheduled to hit next Tuesday. This patch is designed to smooth out the final weeks of the current season while preparing the infrastructure for the transition. One of the most significant mechanical shifts involves Key Templates, which are moving from "Fragile" to "Compromised" status for the remainder of the season. Additionally, Runners can expect a higher frequency of map events and a boosted UESC presence, making the final push for loot significantly more intense.
The arrival of Season 2 also means the first full seasonal reset. When NIGHTFALL begins, your Runner Level, Ranked Level, and Faction progression will reset. Your local inventory and standard currencies will also be cleared, though you will retain all earned cosmetics, non-seasonal Codex progress, and Rewards Pass unlocks. If you have been grinding the ranked ladder, make sure to claim your rewards based on your highest achieved rank before the June 2 cutoff.
What is coming in Season 2: NIGHTFALL?
Bungie is promising more than just a fresh coat of paint. The update introduces "The Cradle," a new customization system that should offer deeper agency over your Runner's build. Faction progression is also being retuned to be significantly faster, addressing community feedback regarding the Season 1 grind. We expect a full reveal of the Night Marsh and these new systems during the week of May 25.
- Cryo Archive Event: The map becomes available daily starting May 21.
- Ranked Special Event: Runs from May 24 (10AM PT) to May 28.
- Season 2 Launch: June 2, 2026.
With the seasonal reset looming, now is the time to burn through your remaining resources and finalize those high-tier extractions. The artifacts you secure now might be lost to the reset, but the infamy of a top-tier rank remains permanent.
