The headline addition is Raid Boss 2: Subjugator and Thol the Invincible. For players who have already optimized their builds against the initial endgame offerings, this duo promises a steep challenge and a fresh loot pool. Gearbox is introducing Pearlescent gear, four new Legendaries, and five additional Class Mods to the drop table. We also get the 'Active Fire' firmware upgrade, which should shake up the current weapon meta.
Beyond the loot, Version 1.7 addresses a long-standing community request with the Shared Character Progression toggle. This allows you to choose whether new Vault Hunters start completely fresh or benefit from your main's progress, offering more flexibility for those who want to skip the initial grind. The level cap pressure is also increasing with the introduction of UVHM Level 7, providing a new ceiling for character optimization.
Looking ahead, the roadmap for Borderlands 4 remains packed. Following a DevCast on May 26, Version 1.8 is expected in late June with a free Takedown. Later this year, the game will expand further with Bounty Packs 4 and 5, eventually leading into Story Pack 2 which will introduce the highly anticipated sixth playable Vault Hunter. If you haven't jumped in yet, the game is currently 40% off on Steam until May 25.
