SCS Software recently revealed they are prototyping a Multi-Function Display (MFD), a centralized in-game menu designed to unify vehicle functions. If you've ever struggled to remember which obscure key toggles your beacon or shifts your trip computer while hauling through the Grand Canyon State, this is the solution. The MFD will allow you to navigate driving assists, lighting, media, and trip info on the fly without pausing the simulation.
This move follows the recent rollout of the Damage, Finances, and Job Info widgets. While those additions improved the Route Advisor, the MFD is a more ambitious step toward making the game's deep systems discoverable. By displaying functions contextually alongside their associated key-binds, the developers are focusing on accessibility for players using controllers or complex wheel setups who may have run out of physical buttons.
Because the gameplay remains unpaused during interaction, the MFD feels like a natural extension of the dashboard rather than a break in the immersion. While still in the prototyping phase, the goal is clear: less time fumbling with a keyboard and more time focusing on the road ahead. This UI shift is a massive win for build diversity in setups, allowing players to manage complex fleet logistics and vehicle maintenance with significantly less friction.
