The most immediate change you will notice is the Game Radio. SCS Software has introduced five distinct in-game stations, giving you a curated soundtrack for those long stretches across the desert without needing to tab out to a browser. It is a small quality-of-life addition that makes the cab feel more like a living space.
Speaking of the cab, the Material System has received a major overhaul. Starting with the Mack Anthem and Western Star 49X, the way light interacts with interior surfaces is now more realistic. This improved material handling, combined with global exposure and contrast tweaks, removes that occasionally flat look and gives the dashboard and upholstery a tactile, high-quality finish.
Mechanical Shifts: Fatigue and Branding
For the simulation purists, the Expanded Rest Mechanic is the real headline. The update splits fatigue into two distinct categories: Rest State and Mandatory Break. You can no longer just pull over for a quick nap to reset everything; you will need to manage your schedule around strict legal driving windows, adding a layer of tactical planning to every freight contract.
Additionally, the update introduces Players' Company Paint Jobs. You can finally apply your own branding to your fleet, ensuring that your hired drivers are representing your business properly as they move cargo through California and Nevada. A new Job Details Widget has also been added to the UI, keeping essential delivery info front and center without cluttering your view.
If you want to test these features early, you can opt into the public_beta branch via the Steam Betas tab. Just remember that this is an open beta—expect some rough edges and be sure to report any bugs on the official forums to help the team polish version 1.60 for its full release.
