As a 2024 role-playing adventure game, this title immerses players in subterranean Azeroth to confront the Void. Core gameplay features include exploring new underground zones, engaging in PvE content via "Delves" (solo/group treasure vaults utilizing NPC companions), and utilizing the account-wide "Warbands" progression system. Character enhancement is supported by new "Hero Talent trees."
The current expansion shifts the focus of the adventure deep beneath the surface of the familiar world of Azeroth. Players are tasked with venturing into vast, previously unseen subterranean realms. The central conflict involves confronting the Harbinger of the Void and its associated forces, which are primarily depicted as formidable arachnid adversaries threatening the stability of the world above.
As an RPG, the gameplay loop involves questing, engaging in combat against various enemies (both player-versus-environment or PvE, and player-versus-player or PvP), acquiring experience points (XP) to level up, and obtaining increasingly powerful gear. Character customization remains a central element, allowing players to specialize their roles within groups.
Several significant systems have been integrated to enhance long-term engagement and character development:
Delves represent a new form of content designed for smaller groups or solo play. These are self-contained treasure vaults that players can explore, often utilizing an NPC companion to fill necessary group roles if playing alone. This feature aims to provide accessible, repeatable endgame content outside of traditional large-scale raids or dungeons.
The introduction of the Warbands system fundamentally alters progression tracking. This feature allows certain achievements, reputation gains, and potentially other forms of progress to be shared across all characters on a single account, streamlining the experience for players with multiple characters.
To deepen specialization beyond existing class structures, players now have access to new Hero Talent trees. These provide additional layers of customization and power scaling, allowing players to further tailor their character builds as they advance through the level cap.
This title is primarily aimed at established fans of large-scale persistent world RPGs who enjoy deep character customization, complex group mechanics, and ongoing narrative development. The inclusion of solo-friendly content like Delves may also appeal to players who prefer less rigid group scheduling.

In The Ghosts of K’aresh, the campaign continues as more pieces to a troubling puzzle fall into place. Players immerse themselves in The War Within story as it leads up to the next chapter of the Worldsoul Saga—Midnight. There’s some unfinished business to be had on K’aresh and the specter of an old enemy looms large. Forces with ill-intent are determined to bring forth Dimensius, the All-Devouring once more to finish off the ethereals. Should he arise, Azeroth will also be in peril from this dangerous Void Lord.

Undermine(d), takes players to an underground city built by the creativity of the goblins.
