Trials Evolution is a 2.5D platform racing main game where you control a physics-based motorcycle rider navigating obstacle courses for the fastest time with minimal crashes. Gameplay is restricted to a 2D plane, demanding precise control over the bike's pitch while moving forward and backward. Released in 2012, its distinctive feature is the integrated editor, allowing players to design and share custom maps, significantly expanding the available content beyond the core tracks.
The atmosphere of the game centers entirely on mastering challenging environments built from ramps, loops, traps, and precarious jumps. Success hinges upon understanding and manipulating the game's realistic physics engine. While the primary goal is speed, the constant threat of spectacular, physics-driven crashes adds a layer of tension to every attempt. The control scheme is deceptively simple, focusing on throttle, brake, and the crucial ability to lean the bike forward or backward. This fine control over the bike's angle dictates whether the rider lands safely or tumbles, often requiring split-second adjustments when airborne.
A defining feature of this title is the robust, in-game editor. This tool allows players to design, build, and share their own custom tracks with the community. This feature significantly expands the longevity and variety of content available beyond the officially designed levels, relying heavily on user-generated content for replayability.
Since its initial launch, the game has received two additional downloadable content (DLC) packs, offering new tracks and challenges to further test player skills across different themes and difficulty levels.
The main game is available on the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Trials Evolution: Gold Edition marks the Trials franchise's triumphant return to the PC gaming platform. Trials Evolution: Gold Edition will contain all the content of the original Trials Evolution. In addition, all of the single player tracks and skill games from Trials HD will be found in Trials Evolution – effectively doubling the content offering with two complete games, neither of which have ever before been available on PC.
