As a main game released in 2004, this arcade sports title centers on the World Destruction Tour, where you compete globally as part of Tony Hawk's team against Bam Margera's crew. Gameplay involves mastering complex skateboarding lines, customizing environments with tags and stickers, and choosing from over 20 special skaters or your own created pro. For classic challenges, the game includes a mode replicating goals from earlier entries, like achieving high scores.
The primary gameplay loop involves navigating diverse, detailed skateparks located around the world. Players are tasked with completing objectives that often require creative line construction and utilizing the environment for high-scoring combos. As a main game, the focus is on progressing through this global tour structure.
A significant feature introduced in this installment is the ability for players to customize their presence within the game world. This includes the option to spray custom tags onto environments and slap personalized stickers on surfaces, adding a layer of personal flair to the locations visited during the tour.
The game offers a substantial roster, allowing players to skate as themselves, their teammates, or select from more than 20 special professional skaters. This variety ensures different playstyles can be explored across the various stages of the World Destruction Tour.
Beyond the standard career progression, the game incorporates a nostalgic element through an optional mode. Players can access Classic mode, which revisits the structure and challenges reminiscent of earlier entries in the series. This mode specifically challenges players to achieve classic goals such as setting a High Score or locating and collecting the Secret Tape within each level.
As a main release title, there are currently no officially released downloadable content packs or expansions associated with this game.
The environment design actively supports the creation of new and extended skate lines. Players are encouraged to link tricks across different sections of the map seamlessly, utilizing the custom tagging and sticker mechanics as markers or points of focus within their runs.

THUG Pro is an in-progress total conversion mod for the PC version of Tony Hawk's Underground 2. It uses THUG2's engine as a foundation for what will eventually include every level from every Neversoft game in the series and more. Single-player and online multiplayer supported.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix takes players on an all new skating blitzkrieg where they embark on the ultimate road trip from Tony Hawk's Underground 2 in addition to wreaking havoc in four never-before-seen city-levels - Las Vegas, Atlanta, Kyoto and Santa Cruz -- that feature original goals, level changing events and unlockable characters. For the first time, players can live the Tony Hawk console gaming experience on a handheld device as they join either Tony Hawk or Bam Margera on a World Destruction Tour where they nail insane tricks with lightning speed or slow motion focus control, pull off mischievous pranks, and conquer sick terrain through 13 single-player levels, or face off against up to three friends in 10 wireless multiplayer games.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is based on the console game of the same name. Like the previous GBA releases of the series, it's an isometric representation of the console levels combined with polygonal characters. It contains both a story mode, in which you create a rookie skater and take him or her on a world tour with pros to improve their skills and win prizes; and a classic mode, in which you must accomplish various goals such as tricking off objects or getting a high score within two minutes. Changes in this iteration include removing the timer from most goals in story mode, allowing you to have several active at once and new moves like the nata spin, tantrum, which allows you to recover from a bail without losing everything, focus, where you can slow time in order to land the best trick and sticker-slapping.
