Super R.B.I. Baseball is a 1995 SNES sports simulation featuring 700 MLBPA players across 28 teams using the 1994 roster, though team licenses are omitted. Gameplay includes Exhibition, Home Run Derby, and League modes, alongside unique challenges in the Game Breaker scenario mode. Players can also select historical All-Star lineups. Progress in championship series is saved via passwords, and the presentation features cartoonish graphics and commentary by Jack Buck.
The central experience revolves around competitive baseball simulation, supported by several distinct modes designed to cater to different player interests. Players can jump straight into an Exhibition match, test their power in the Home Run Derby, or refine their fielding skills in Defense Practice.
For those seeking a longer commitment, the League mode allows players to compete against every team in the game sequentially to determine a champion. A Playoffs mode is also available for tournament-style competition.
A notable feature is the Game Breaker mode. This mode presents players with 17 specific in-game scenarios where the objective is to win the game under predefined, often challenging, conditions.
The game offers flexibility in team selection beyond the standard roster. Players can choose from various historical Division Champion lineups spanning the years 1989 through 1993, as well as All-Star lineups compiled from 1989 through 1994, adding replay value through historical team configurations.
The visual style of the game leans toward a cartoonish aesthetic. While the stadiums are designed to be "authentic" representations of real-world venues, they have been modified to avoid direct licensing conflicts. Adding an auditory layer to the action, the game features play-by-play commentary provided by voice talent Jack Buck.
This title marks the first appearance of this particular baseball series on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Since it lacks battery backup for saving progress, championship series progress is managed through the use of passwords.
The game package represents the complete main experience; there are currently no officially released downloadable content packs or expansions available for this title.
