Slay the Spire II is a newly released roguelike deckbuilder strategy game where you ascend a perilous spire by crafting a unique deck turn-by-turn. Gameplay centers on turn-based combat, utilizing energy to play cards, while discovering powerful, run-altering Relics. As a main game, the focus is on deep replayability through procedural generation, forcing constant adaptation of your card synergies across randomized paths. Available now on PC, Linux, and Mac.
The fundamental gameplay revolves around ascending a perilous spire, floor by floor. Each journey requires players to construct a viable deck from scratch. Players begin with a basic set of cards and must strategically add new, more powerful cards obtained through combat victories, special encounters, or shop purchases.
Combat is turn-based, utilizing energy resources to play cards that inflict damage, defend against incoming attacks, or apply various status effects. A key element is the discovery and utilization of Relics—powerful artifacts that grant permanent, often game-altering passive bonuses throughout a single run. Since every run is procedurally generated, the combination of available cards, map layout, and discovered relics ensures that no two playthroughs are identical.
The game maintains a distinct atmosphere centered around exploration within a mysterious, towering structure. Players navigate a branching map, choosing paths that lead to battles, elite encounters, rest sites, and unique events. The setting encourages careful risk assessment, as players must balance the need for powerful upgrades against the danger of facing tougher enemies too early.
The uniqueness stems from the tight integration of deck construction with roguelike progression. Unlike traditional card games, the deck is constantly evolving, forcing players to adapt their strategy on the fly based on what cards and relics become available. Mastering the game involves understanding card synergies and knowing when to prune weak cards from the deck, rather than simply accumulating more powerful options.
As a main game release, this title currently features no downloadable content (DLC) or official expansions available at launch. The focus remains entirely on the core experience of conquering the spire.
The game launched simultaneously across PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac, on March 5th, 2026.
