Nuclear Union is an upcoming PC Role-Playing Game (RPG) set in an alternate 2012 where the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis escalated into global nuclear war. You play as a Soviet officer navigating the underground state of Pobedograd, fifty years after the fallout, focused on survival and rebuilding industry. The core experience emphasizes unique combat utilizing rare, operational prototypes of Soviet firearms that never saw mass production. The community awaits further details on this post-apocalyptic Soviet survival narrative.
The game takes place fifty years after the nuclear war, in the year 2012, within the confines of the surviving Soviet state, now known as the Nuclear Union. Life continues underground in the capital city, Pobedograd. This subterranean society is focused on two primary objectives: ensuring the survival of its citizens and rebuilding its industrial base against the backdrop of a severely contaminated surface world. The atmosphere blends classic Soviet ideology with the harsh realities of a nuclear wasteland.
Players step into the boots of a Soviet officer who actively participated in the final days of the nuclear conflict. While that past experience is significant, the main focus shifts to the challenges faced in this new, dangerous, and highly radioactive modern world. The story explores the unique societal structure and ongoing struggles within Pobedograd and the remnants of the former empire.
A notable aspect of the gameplay involves the preservation and utilization of advanced, yet unmass-produced, Soviet weaponry. Survivors have access to a unique arsenal featuring operational prototypes of firearms that never reached widespread production. This includes specialized weapons such as the three-barreled submachine gun TKB-059, the compact AO-46 (sometimes referred to as the "Soviet UZI") chambered for 5.45 mm rounds, and the bullpup assault rifle TKB-022PM. This focus on rare, powerful Soviet military hardware provides a distinct flavor to the combat encounters within the RPG framework.
This title is planned exclusively for PC (Microsoft Windows). As a main game release, it is intended to deliver the complete core experience without reliance on additional downloadable content, as there are currently no announced DLCs or expansions associated with the project.
