This main game, released in 1999, offers fast-paced, arcade-style football action featuring seven-on-seven matches. The core loop involves quick, high-scoring gameplay with simplified controls, allowing players to immediately jump into matches. Distinctive features include customizable plays, "Blitz Passing" for easy long throws, and the "ON• FIRE" mode for temporary player boosts. It supports up to four players locally and includes a Tournament mode, all set against dynamic weather conditions across various stadiums.
The gameplay loop emphasizes aggressive, non-stop football. Unlike traditional simulations, this version features simplified rules, allowing for more spectacular and less conventional plays. A key mechanic involves the "ON• FIRE" mode, which grants players temporary super-powered performance boosts, leading to dramatic shifts in momentum during matches.
Control customization is a significant feature, allowing players to tailor both offensive and defensive strategies. This includes the ability to call audibles at the line of scrimmage, giving tactical input mid-play. Furthermore, the passing system has been streamlined with "Blitz Passing," designed to facilitate quick, long-bomb throws with minimal input.
The game incorporates dynamic environmental factors, featuring realistic weather conditions that can impact gameplay visibility and ball handling. Players compete across a variety of new stadiums, adding visual variety to the competitive environment.
The primary differentiator lies in its commitment to arcade sensibilities combined with official NFL licensing. While it features the structure of a professional football season, the moment-to-player gameplay prioritizes spectacle and accessibility. The learning curve is designed to be immediate, focusing on pick-up-and-play enjoyment rather than deep simulation management.
A major enhancement in this iteration is the inclusion of 4-player support, significantly expanding the local multiplayer experience. Beyond standard exhibition matches, the game includes a dedicated Tournament mode, providing a structured path for competitive play.
As a main release, the feature set is complete across its various platforms, which include the Dreamcast, PC (Microsoft Windows), Arcade cabinets, PlayStation, and Nintendo 64. There are no official downloadable content packs or expansions associated with this title.

If you don't like the way your team is performing, edit the plays with offensive and defensive play editors. If you are a fan of the 50-yard indoor war, then get a copy of KURT WARNER'S ARENA FOOTBALL UNLEASHED. Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed is a sports game developed and published by Midway for the Sony PlayStation. It was released in North America on May 18, 2000. It is of note that it would not be until 2006 before another AFL video game would be released. It is based around the fame of American football champion Kurt Warner. It is a modified version of NFL Blitz set in the Arena Football League. Arena ball is a version of American football played indoors on a 50 yard field with nets behind each endzone and boards on the sidelines. Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed differs from other American football video games due to its usage of the arena football system. A few rule changes include that there are half as many players on the field, field goals go back into play if they miss the goalposts, and there's no such thing as punting. The game is compared to NFL Blitz 2000 for its violence, and one reviewer even noted that "The post-play violence has been pumped up to the level that Blitz had before the NFL forced Midway to tone it down." A Dreamcast version was announced at the same time as "Arena Football" prior to rebranding to "Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed", however the Dreamcast version was cancelled for unknown reasons.
