Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is a classic Real-Time Strategy/Simulator hybrid, originally released in 2000, where you manage a fantasy kingdom by building structures and setting taxes. Its unique feature is indirect unit control: heroes act independently, motivated only by monetary rewards (bounties) you place on tasks like clearing monsters or exploration. Success relies on economic manipulation rather than direct tactical commands. The game is available on PC, Mac, iOS, and Android, and has received a remaster.
To achieve objectives, players utilize a system of "bounties" or "rewards." If the player wishes for a hero to explore a dangerous ruin, clear a monster lair, or defend a specific location, they must place a monetary reward on that action or location.
Heroes, ranging from warriors and rangers to wizards and clerics, will then choose to undertake the rewarded task if it aligns with their current needs, skills, and greed. This creates a dynamic where successful kingdom building depends on understanding and manipulating the motivations of your populace rather than micromanaging every combat encounter.
Taxes are crucial for funding these endeavors, but setting tax rates too high can discourage new heroes from settling in your domain. Balancing expansion, defense, and the economic well-being of the kingdom forms the central strategic challenge.
The atmosphere is distinctly high fantasy, requiring players to manage threats ranging from simple bandits to powerful dragons and undead legions that emerge from the surrounding wilderness.

The High Definition edition of Majesty Gold contains main game, the Northern Expansion Pack as well as 2 new quests and several other graphics and gameplay updates. Majesty is a Real-time strategy game with indirect control – your heroes have a will of their own!
