This 2006 main game blends Platform and Adventure genres, letting you build and battle through the story of the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) with LEGO humor. The core loop involves solving environmental puzzles, light combat, and collecting studs. Distinctive features include the ability to mix and match over 50 characters to create unique heroes, and for the first time, seamless entry/exit from vehicles and creature riding. It is available on Xbox 360, PC, and Mac.
Combat is accessible, focusing on simple melee attacks and blaster fire. A key mechanic involves utilizing the unique skills of various characters—such as Jedi using the Force or Scoundrels using specialized gadgets—to overcome obstacles.
This installment significantly expands upon customization and vehicle interaction compared to its predecessor. For the first time, characters can seamlessly enter and exit vehicles, and players can even ride creatures found throughout the galaxy.
The character roster features more than 50 playable unique heroes and villains from the Original Trilogy. A standout feature is the ability to mix and match the body parts of these characters, allowing players to create millions of possible custom LEGO Star Wars heroes to use in Free Play mode.
The atmosphere is lighthearted, contrasting the high stakes of the films with playful visual gags and character animations.
This title is presented as a complete main game experience. There are no officially released downloadable content packs or expansions associated with this version.
Players can expect a blend of action, light puzzle-solving, and extensive replayability driven by the large roster of characters and the Free Play mode, which encourages revisiting levels to unlock secrets using previously unavailable abilities. The focus remains on cooperative, accessible adventure built around iconic cinematic moments.
