This is the second official expansion for the turn-based strategy classic, *Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia*, released in 2000. As a standalone package, it includes the base game alongside substantial new content. You engage in deep tactical combat, resource management, and exploration across an adventure map. The focus is on new campaigns detailing the prequel story of the necromancer Sandro's rise to power on the continent of Antagarich, adding significant lore and challenging scenarios to the established RPG/Strategy formula.
The narrative content provided here functions as a prequel, setting the stage for events that occur both before and during the base game's timeline on the continent of Antagarich. The central conflict is driven by the machinations of the necromancer, Sandro. Following his arrival, Sandro initiates a decade-long plot to reassemble two immensely powerful necromantic artifacts.
The storyline details Sandro’s deceptive methods, where he uses illusionary magic to masquerade as a living human. He manipulates heroes, including Gem and Crag Hack, into retrieving the necessary artifact components for him. Once these pieces are secured, Sandro claims them, assembling the Cloak of the Undead King and the Armor of the Damned, which grants him political control over the undead lands of Deyja.
Subsequent campaigns follow the efforts of heroes like Gelu, Gem, Yog, and Crag Hack as they unite to counter Sandro's growing threat. This effort involves seeking out the components of the legendary sword, the Angelic Alliance, leading to a confrontation with the necromancer.
The primary addition in this expansion is a substantial set of new, interconnected campaigns that deepen the established lore of the world and its key antagonists. Players engage with scenarios detailing the rise of the Necromancer faction through political maneuvering and dark magic.
The core gameplay loop remains consistent with the established formula: players engage in turn-based movement across an adventure map, manage resources, build up towns, recruit armies, and engage in tactical, grid-based combat. The expansion introduces new narrative threads and challenges centered around these new scenarios, providing a significant volume of new map content and story progression that directly informs the setting of the original Restoration of Erathia.
While the fundamental mechanics of the Role-playing (RPG), Strategy, and Tactical turn-based gameplay are preserved, the expansion enriches the overall experience by providing significant backstory. The new campaigns are woven directly into the established continuity, offering context for later events on the continent.
Because this is a standalone expansion, it bundles the original Heroes of Might and Magic III experience with the new material. The scope of the added content is substantial, focusing heavily on narrative depth through dedicated campaign structures rather than introducing entirely new core systems outside of the campaign framework.

Day of Reckoning is a comprehensive fan expansion for Heroes of Might and Magic III as a continuation of the classic official expansions and akin to Horn of the Abyss. The project aims to complete the story of Heroes III by introducing elements tied to the Reckoning event, the cut Forge content, and filling story gaps. In addition to other features, Day of Reckoning is set to introduce three full new factions: Palace, Grotto, and Forge.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss also known as HotA is a fan-made full scale add-on for Heroes of Might and Magic III, designed to continue the classical Heroes 3 add-on series of RoE/AB/SoD. The aim of the project is to create an add-on for Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death with lots of new features. The main focus of add-on is the quality of every single aspect of the modded game. This includes the careful fixes of the original game balance, removal of the graphical imperfections left by the developer, and of course, a huge amount of new content, like new campaigns, new map objects and even a new playable faction - The Cove. The project pretends to be fully lore-wise and keeps connection with the original Might and Magic universe.
