The action unfolds in a devastated New York City, which has become the epicenter of an alien invasion. Players step into the role of a supersoldier equipped with the highly advanced Nanosuit, granting superhuman abilities. The atmosphere blends intense urban warfare with science fiction elements, as players navigate crumbling skyscrapers and war-torn landmarks while battling both alien forces and human paramilitary groups.
The gameplay centers around utilizing the Nanosuit's versatile capabilities. Players can engage enemies using stealth, speed, or brute force, thanks to modes like Cloak (invisibility), Armor (damage resistance), and Strength (enhanced jumping and melee attacks). The ability to switch instantly between these modes mid-combat is central to the experience, allowing for highly adaptable tactical approaches to various combat scenarios.
This remaster focuses heavily on technical modernization to bring the visuals up to current standards. Key updates include:
The remaster is designed to be a faithful preservation of the original single-player campaign. The narrative structure, mission design, and core Nanosuit mechanics remain true to the source material. The changes introduced are primarily focused on technical presentation and optimization rather than altering the established level layouts or story progression.
As of its release, Crysis 2 Remastered includes only the base single-player campaign. There are no additional downloadable content (DLC) packs or expansions included or available separately for this remastered title.
Violence mainly consists of shooting action between your own high-tech armour-clad team, other human soldiers, and technologically advanced cybernetic aliens. Human and alien characters respond to violence in a realistic manner and blood effects are used. Although bodies remain in view, after characters are defeated, there are no graphic wound details. This game also contains use of strong language ('fuck'), as well as milder terms including 'bitch', 'bastard' and 'shit'.
