This 2013 remaster of a classic isometric RPG plunges you into the Forgotten Realms, where you must escape imprisonment by the wizard Irenicus and confront your dark, innate powers. Gameplay centers on deep strategic combat (real-time with pause), extensive character customization based on AD&D 2nd Edition rules, and narrative choices that shape your heroic or villainous destiny. The Enhanced Edition preserves the original epic adventure, integrating the Throne of Bhaal expansion and adding new playable characters, while updating visuals and compatibility for modern systems across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
This title is a deep, isometric Role-Playing Game (RPG) that blends strategic combat with extensive adventure elements. It adheres closely to the ruleset of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Second Edition, offering granular control over character development, party management, and tactical encounters. The atmosphere is dark, mature, and richly detailed, focusing on player agency where decisions carry significant weight across the narrative.
Core mechanics involve real-time combat with pause functionality, allowing players to issue complex orders to their party members before resuming the action. Character creation is extensive, allowing selection from numerous classes and races, each influencing dialogue options and available abilities.
The Enhanced Edition preserves the entirety of the original critically acclaimed content while introducing several quality-of-life improvements tailored for contemporary audiences. These updates focus on accessibility and visual fidelity without fundamentally altering the core mechanics or story structure.
A significant addition to this edition is the inclusion of the original expansion, Throne of Bhaal, seamlessly integrated into the main game experience. Furthermore, this version introduces several new playable characters, each with unique questlines and interparty dialogue, adding further depth to party composition and replayability.
This version is widely available across numerous platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC (Microsoft Windows), Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android, making the epic scope accessible on both home consoles and portable devices.
Regarding additional content, this specific release is a self-contained package. There are no separate downloadable content packs or expansions available beyond the integrated original expansion content.
