Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 is officially here, and it’s bringing one of the most iconic X-Men to the roster: Cyclops. This update doesn't just stop at new heroes; it introduces a massive 18v18 map in K'un-Lun and a significant technical leap with NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 support.
The arrival of Cyclops marks a major shift in the current meta. As a tactical leader, his optics-based kit is expected to provide high-precision DPS, rewarding players who can maintain consistent lines of sight. Alongside him, the new map K'un-Lun: Shenloong Arena introduces the Bounty Annihilation mode. This 18v18 format is a chaotic departure from standard team sizes, demanding a completely different level of coordination and area denial.
For PC players, the implementation of NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 is the technical highlight. This update introduces Super Resolution with dedicated Quality and Performance modes. Most notably, owners of RTX 50 Series GPUs can now leverage high-multiplier DLSS Multi-Frame Generation, which should provide a massive framerate boost in the destructible environments of Marvel Rivals.
Season 8.5 Events and Rewards
The update also kicks off several limited-time events that offer tangible rewards for the grind:
- Shenloong Tournament: Compete to earn a free exclusive costume for Groot.
- 616 Vault Sale: A major store event running from June 12 to June 26, featuring discounted legacy items.
On the balance side, NetEase has addressed two frustrating bugs. Black Cat's Fortune stack gain has been normalized, and a critical fix for Devil Dinosaur prevents the unintentional permanent speed boost that could occur after certain ultimate ability interactions. These fixes are vital for maintaining competitive integrity in Ranked play.
Maintenance is scheduled for June 12, 2026, starting at 09:00 UTC. Expect about two hours of downtime before you can jump in to test the new content.
