If you missed out on the Boxer CRV during the previous Winter event, the War Thunder developers are giving you a second chance at this high-mobility playstyle—this time as a permanent fixture in the research tree. The SWaTrInf (Schwerer Waffenträger Infanterie) is essentially the German adoption of the Australian reconnaissance variant, designed to provide heavy fire support with a much smaller profile than a main battle tank.
The firepower here is the real draw for light tank enthusiasts. It features a stabilized 30 mm MK30-2/ABM autocannon capable of firing AHEAD airburst shells, which are specialized for shredding light vehicles and low-flying aircraft. For heavier targets, you have access to two Spike-LR II ATGM launchers. These fire-and-forget missiles allow you to pop out from cover, lock on, and retreat while the missile does the work, making it a nightmare for static snipers.
Survival in the Boxer depends entirely on its advanced systems and speed. It clocks in at over 100 km/h on roads, and while its armor won't stop a kinetic penetrator, it is equipped with a laser warning device and high-resolution thermal imagers for both the commander and gunner. This combination makes it a premier scout and flanker for high-tier German lineups, filling a much-needed gap for a reliable, modern wheeled IFV.
