Slipgate Ironworks is leaning hard into the tactical flexibility players have been asking for. The addition of RMB Freelook is a literal game-changer for bird-view perspective, allowing for much more dynamic camera control during intense skirmishes. For those who prefer honing their builds away from the ladder, the new bot-only matches and \"Insane\" Skirmish difficulty provide a brutal testing ground. The AI has also been tuned with an \"Adaptive\" behavior setting that scales based on your pace, ensuring that the pressure remains consistent throughout the match.
The map pool has expanded with four new battlefields: Arena, Brussels, Plundered Riches, and Sand Sea and Steel. These maps introduce varied terrain that will force players to rethink their standard opening build orders. On the technical side, the ability to save custom match settings and use SHIFT queueing for rally points removes several friction points that have existed since launch.
Balance changes in this patch are surgical. The GDF's Drone Mauler has seen a health nerf to prevent early-game death balls from becoming too oppressive. Conversely, the Tempest Dynasty received a buff to their Salvage Effect, rewarding aggressive players who can successfully dismantle enemy structures. Being able to place multiple buildings simultaneously is another huge QoL win that brings the game's pacing closer to the modern RTS meta without losing its classic feel.
Whether you are pushing through the campaigns or grinding the new maps in Skirmish, these changes make the tactical layer feel significantly more responsive and polished.
