The most significant shift for tacticians is the change to the Prone status. In the current beta build, being knocked Prone now adds a +3 initiative delay. This is a meaningful nerf to characters who rely on staying upright to cycle their turns quickly, making crowd control even more lethal in turn-based encounters. If you've been caught in a loop where enemies keep you floored, you'll feel this delay immediately in your next rotation.
Beyond the math, the patch tackles several "soft lock" issues that have plagued TBM players. Specifically, the team has addressed bugs involving Grimoire Imprints and Radiant Sporelings reviving, both of which could previously hang the combat sequence and force a reload. These fixes ensure that the flow of battle remains uninterrupted, even when complex summons and spell-stealing mechanics are in play.
UI and quality-of-life improvements are also included to help players make better decisions in the heat of battle:
- Free Action Indicators: Ability tooltips now correctly identify free actions, preventing players from accidentally wasting their primary action.
- Spiritshift Consistency: Fixed issues where Spiritshift durations weren't behaving as expected in the TBM timeline.
- Tutorial Logic: Combat will no longer pause for tutorials while in Turn-Based Mode, streamlining the experience for veteran players.
The patch is currently live for testing on Steam, GOG, and Xbox PC via the Public Beta branch. While these changes are technically in testing, they represent a vital polish for the Watcher's journey, ensuring the isometric RPG's secondary combat mode feels as robust as its original real-time-with-pause roots.
