Living in a Pollution Zone is supposed to be a challenge, but a recent bug turned it into a resource sink that was nearly impossible to maintain. Players found that the material costs for territory protection were skyrocketing far beyond intended levels. The developers have confirmed this was an error and pushed a fix on January 21, bringing the cost of defending your base back to manageable levels. If you were burning through your stash just to keep the Stardust at bay, you can finally breathe a bit easier.
Resource management is getting another significant pass in the upcoming February 4 update. Stardust Ore yields have felt underwhelming for many, especially given the increased demand in newer zones. While the high resource costs will remain a staple of Pro Difficulty to preserve the endgame challenge, the general output for Stardust Ore across most zones is being buffed to ensure the grind doesn't stall your progression.
Several quality-of-life adjustments are also on the horizon for the February 4 patch:
- Deviant Chests: The duration these chests remain active is being quintupled, moving from a brief 1 minute to 5 minutes, giving players much more breathing room to collect their loot.
- Deviant Sprout Recycling: A new disassembly feature will allow players to break down Deviant Sprouts into Deviant Seeds, offering more utility for collected flora.
- Whim Adjustments: The "You're Delicious" Whim has been temporarily disabled. It wasn't hitting the mark with the community, and the team is taking it back to the workshop for a possible rework.
For those of us in the Mayfly faction trying to restore some semblance of order, these tweaks to the S3 meta are a welcome sign. Balancing the influence of Rosetta's Stardust experiments is a constant battle, and ensuring that our tools and territories remain sustainable is key to surviving the Aberrant Progeny.
