If you've been frustrated by Runners teleporting across the map with a Knife, this patch is for you. Bungie has reduced the Knife lunge distance by approximately 10% and tightened the targeting angle by 20%. This change forces more precision from melee builds; you can no longer rely on the game's generous tracking to close the gap on a kiting opponent. To further curb the melee dominance, the maximum Melee Damage stat bonus against other Runners has been slashed from 100% down to a 50% cap.
The defensive meta is also seeing a massive shift. The Bubble Shield has been bumped up in rarity from Deluxe to Superior, making it a much rarer find in the ruins. More importantly, its total HP has been gutted by 33%. While Bungie removed its specific vulnerability to Volt Weapon damage to normalize its resistances, the raw health nerf makes it significantly easier to burst down with standard kinetic fire.
Beyond combat tuning, the update addresses several technical hurdles that were hampering the extraction experience. The Cryo Archive exfil countdown bug, which previously left some Runners stranded despite reaching the zone, has been squashed. Additionally, several movement exploits that allowed players to reach unintended vantage points have been patched out, ensuring the tactical layout of the colony remains as intended.
- Knife lunge distance reduced (~10%) and angle narrowed (~20%)
- Bubble Shield rarity increased to Superior; HP reduced by 33%
- Melee Damage bonus against Runners capped at 50%
- Fixed Vault/Armory item refresh issues
- Resolved Cryo Archive exfil countdown bug
These changes suggest Bungie is closely monitoring how Runners are interacting in the field. By capping melee scaling and making defensive utility more fragile, the studio is clearly pushing for a meta where positioning and gunplay take priority over high-stat melee stacks.
