The demon God Adyr is not meant to fall easily, and for players relying on status effects to exploit one of his manifestations, that era is officially over. HEXWORKS has deployed Hotfix Version 2.5.220 for Lords of the Fallen, primarily targeting a critical bug in the Eidolon of Adyr encounter that essentially let players bypass a core mechanic.
Eidolon of Adyr: The Status Effect Cheat is Gone
The biggest mechanical shift in this hotfix addresses the massive Eidolon of Adyr boss fight. This particular bug was a huge boon for Lampbearers who favored status-heavy builds. Previously, if you applied a status effect—like poison, ignite, or bleed—right before the boss transitioned into Phase 2, the Eidolon would fail to trigger its crucial health regeneration mechanic. This was, frankly, a free pass around half the fight's intended difficulty, especially on higher New Game Plus cycles.
Hotfix 2.5.220 ensures that the Eidolon of Adyr now regenerates health as intended during Phase 2, even if status effects are active. This is effectively a nerf to player exploits and a buff to the boss's lethality. If you were relying on cheesing this fight, prepare to actually manage your DPS and the Umbral environment properly now that the true challenge has been restored.
How Does This Change the Eidolon Fight Meta?
This fix forces players back to the core challenge: managing the boss's immense health pool and surviving the environment. Instead of relying on passive damage to break the regeneration loop, you must now focus on burst damage and clean execution during the brief windows of vulnerability. It’s a return to form for a demanding Souls-like encounter.
NG+ Quality of Life Fixes
For those of us deep into multiple NG+ runs, the patch also resolves a frustrating quality-of-life issue. The navigation bugs on the Difficulty Selection screen, specifically related to the Modifiers tab, have been squashed. When you're constantly tweaking your run and stacking those challenge modifiers, fluid menu navigation is a must. This small fix makes starting the next brutal journey through Axiom and Umbral much smoother.
