The battle for sector control is evolving as Hell Let Loose launches its second public playtest for the new Conquest mode. Available now on the Steam Experimental Branch, Conquest v2 introduces a high-stakes Morale system that forces teams to weigh the cost of every life and vehicle lost against their territorial gains.
This iteration of Conquest moves away from the traditional tug-of-war. Teams now start with control over side objectives, but the mechanics for securing ground have been tightened. Capturing a side objective now only secures the immediate grid squares, preventing a single point from over-extending a team's influence. This shift places a massive emphasis on maintaining a cohesive front line rather than relying on deep-flank gambits that don't contribute to industrial resource generation.
The most significant mechanical shift is the introduction of Morale penalties for armor. For the first time, vehicle crews are directly accountable for the team's victory resources; losing a Heavy Tank now costs 17 Morale. To counter this, Commanders have been granted a new ability called Rally the Troops. When activated, this two-minute window grants the entire team immunity to Morale loss from redeployments or vehicle destruction, creating a perfect window for aggressive pushes or desperate defensive stands.
To mitigate frustration during heavy bombardment or spawn camping, a six-second grace period has been added to respawns. This protection ensures that if you are killed immediately upon entering the field, your death won't drain the team's Morale. These changes suggest a future for Hell Let Loose where strategic management of assets is just as vital as marksmanship.
