SCS Software is refining the way torque and throttle response behave. Instead of the somewhat binary feeling of previous versions, engine coasting and acceleration now feel more natural. This change is backed by an overhaul of the turbocharger audio, ensuring that the sound of your rig matches the actual mechanical stress being put on the engine during heavy hauls.
One of the most significant changes for the simulation purists is the improved wheel camber and caster simulation. This makes a noticeable difference when you're traversing uneven off-road surfaces or navigating tight depot turns. The trucks now react more realistically to the geometry of the ground, which pairs perfectly with the new collision geometry on roads. SCS has smoothed out the curvature of road physics, specifically targeting highway turning lanes and exits. This means fewer "phantom bumps" that used to unsettle your trailer when merging at high speeds.
How does the new double throttle work?
For players who don't use a dedicated pedal set, the keyboard experience is getting a massive quality-of-life buff. Update 1.58 introduces a double throttle control system. By default, pressing the key provides partial throttle for precise low-speed maneuvering. If you need to floor it, a quick double-tap on the key engages full throttle. This gives keyboard drivers the kind of granular control that was previously reserved for expensive hardware setups.
These changes represent a fundamental shift in how the game handles weight and momentum, making every delivery feel just a bit more grounded. Keep an eye out for the Open Beta coming soon to test these physics shifts yourself.
