The Harpy VTOL is getting a much-needed mechanical tune-up. Following the major 1.2 content update for the Arma 3 Creator DLC: Expeditionary Forces, developer Bohemia Interactive has deployed hotfix 1.2.1 to smooth out some of the rougher edges in the simulation's latest hardware.
For pilots, the most significant change affects the Harpy's flight behavior. The update addresses the frustrating "hard transitions" between flight modes and ensures the aircraft now defaults to VTOL mode upon startup. These are the kinds of quality-of-life changes that matter when you're trying to execute a precise insertion under fire. Additionally, the Harpy's sensor tracking and PhysX wheel behavior have been refined to prevent the immersion-breaking physics quirks that often plague complex vehicle mods.
Ground and stealth operations haven't been ignored either. The QAV-80 Stealth variant had a persistent issue with incorrect weapon loading that has now been resolved. Furthermore, pylon weapons have been properly added to fire geometries, ensuring that ballistic calculations and hit detection remain consistent with the high-fidelity standards expected of Arma 3.
Other notable fixes in this ~692 MB patch include:
- Re-enabled bounding box limits for Gyra Driver periscopes to prevent clipping.
- Adjustments to 30mm AP magazines for better combat balance.
- General stability fixes for Creator DLC assets.
While a hotfix might not have the flash of a new map, these technical iterations are what keep the tactical meta viable. Ensuring the Harpy functions predictably allows mission creators to design more complex scenarios without worrying about asset failure.
