The headline addition is Axle, a new Legend built for players who live for high-velocity rotations. His kit is a love letter to movement enthusiasts: his Passive, Drift, allows for unique handling, while his Nitro Gate Tactical and Kickstart Ultimate are designed to propel his squad through the Outlands faster than ever before. In a meta where positioning is everything, Axle looks set to challenge the dominant skirmisher picks.
Beyond the new roster addition, Respawn is introducing two mechanics that will fundamentally change the flow of a match. The first is Deathbox Respawns. This provides a faster alternative to traditional beacons, allowing you to bring teammates back directly at the site of a skirmish. It’s a high-risk, high-reward system that keeps squads in the fight longer. To smooth out the experience, a new Chain Healing quality-of-life feature is also being implemented, offering customizable settings to automate your healing economy during intense firefights.
Vantage and Conduit are seeing significant shifts in this patch. Vantage is receiving a massive buff; her Passive now builds Ultimate charge, and her Tactical velocity has been tuned for better escape and engagement range. Conduit, meanwhile, now gains a passive speed boost when near Skirmishers, but her Level 3 upgrades have been reworked into Instant Barrier and Enduring Barrier choices.
On the flip side, Alter is catching a nerf. To increase the risk of her kit, the Void Nexus recall range and time have been decreased, while the Void Passage cooldown has been bumped up. These changes aim to make her repositioning more intentional rather than a get-out-of-jail-free card. Full patch notes for the Overclocked update are scheduled to drop on May 4, 2026.
