Getting high-centered on a median or flipping your rig on a tight Nevada turn won't mean a mandatory trip back to the city anymore. The upcoming 1.59 update for American Truck Simulator is introducing the 'Tow to Road' service, a much-requested quality-of-life feature designed to keep you moving during a delivery.
Currently, if you find yourself stuck or shiny-side down, your only real option is the 'Tow to Service' button. While effective, it often teleports you miles away from your route, forcing you to backtrack and potentially miss your delivery window. The new 'Tow to Road' option, accessible via the F7 menu, simply resets your truck to the nearest safe spot on the pavement for a small fee.
This isn't a magical repair button, though. SCS Software has clarified that this service is strictly for recovery. If your engine is trashed or your chassis is bent, you'll still need to visit a proper service station. Think of it as a quick winch-out rather than a full mechanical overhaul. It is also worth noting that if your trailer has become disconnected during a wreck, the service only recovers the truck—leaving the trailer behind for you to re-hitch manually.
There are some smart limitations to prevent players from using this as a teleportation exploit. The service will become unavailable if you wander too far from the last safe position where the game tracked you on the road. This ensures the mechanic stays grounded in the simulation rather than becoming a "fast travel" shortcut. For owner-operators managing tight margins, this feature offers a great balance between maintaining realism and respecting the player's time during a long haul across the states.
