As a standalone expansion released in 1996, MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries lets you command an Inner Sphere mercenary squad, managing finances and mission selection across 50 new contracts. You pilot one of 30 new BattleMechs in tactical shooter/simulator combat, navigating politics between major factions leading up to the Clan Invasion storyline. Distinctive features include arena combat in the Solaris Games and the MercNet multiplayer system.
